Genoa offers a big number of local attractions near the port area, but our tour focuses on its city centre and its old town centre, which are the main cultural, artistic and historical points. You can visit the “Saint Lawrence” Cathedral , Ducal Palace, “San Matteo” square, a district where the Doria’s family lived, via Garibaldi, originally named as “Strada Nuova” with its palaces of “A UNESCO World Heritage Site”, “Palace of St. George” and the Old Harbour, “De Ferrari” square, the “XX September” street, “Golden Gates” and the ancient city walls like “Barbarossa Walls”, the house of Christopher Columbus. ( some areas are reachable only by foot )
You can reach by car the esplanade “Castelletto” , which opens a beautiful sight on the city.
If we’ll have enough time, we can visit the “Galata Museum” and “Aquarium”.
In the local restaurants, which are situated on the coast, you can savour a traditional ligurian cuisine, based on aromatic herbs, olive oil and vegetables. Liguria is known for pesto — a sauce made from basil leaves, garlic, salt, olive oil, pine nuts and pecorino cheese. Focaccia is a particularly common locally baked bread product. Farinata is also a typical snack found in bakeries and pizzerias- essentially it is a savoury and crunchy pancake made from a base of chick-pea flour.
With this tour you’ll feel a real Italian atmosphere and you’ll get unforgettable memories about one of the most beautiful Italian cities, Florence. The tour starts at the Genoa’s sea port or at the hotel in which you’re staying. Our vehicles will take you to the old town centre. First of all we’Il go to the “Duomo” square, where you can visit the “Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral”, the “Baptistery of Saint John”, the “Gates of Paradise” and Giotto’s Campanile. Then we’ll walk down the medieval streets and visit , on the “Signoria” square, the “Old Palace”; it is one of the most significant public places in Italy. The walk will end on the “Old” ( Vecchio) bridge.
The Uffizi Gallery is a museum in Florence and it is one of the oldest and most famous art museums of the Western world. You can visit it and see the art masterpieces of the greatest artists like Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Mantegna, Tiziano, Sandro Botticelli.
The last but not least is The Boboli Gardens. The Gardens, behind the Pitti Palace, the main seat of the Medici grand dukes of Tuscany at Florence, are some of the first and most familiar formal 16th-century Italian gardens. The garden style, as it was developed here, incorporated longer axial developments, wide gravel avenues, a considerable “built” element of stone, the lavish employment of statuary and fountains, and a proliferation of detail, coordinated in semi-private and public spaces that were informed by classical accents: grottos, nympheums, garden temples and the like.
The Cinque Terre area is a very popular tourist destination. It’s landscape is beautiful and fascinating. The Five Lands” is composed of five villages : Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza e Monterosso . Given its location on the Mediterranean, seafood is plentiful in the local cuisine. The mountainsides of the Cinque Terre are heavily terraced and are used to cultivate grapes and olives. You can’t miss the trail from Riomaggiore to Manarola, which is called the “Sentiero dell’Amore (“Love Walk”) and its wheelchair-friendly. In Vernazza there is also the “Santa Margherita di Antiochia” Church on the coast which you can visit. “San Giovanni Battista” Church, “ Fieschi Castle” and the “San Francesco” Church can be visited too. The grapes of the Cinque Terre are used to produce two locally made wines as the “Sciachetrà” , very sweet and delicious
